Lania, the beautiful, hilly village of Limassol, has a religious history that began 3500 years ago. From the day that God Dionysos “lived” in the mountain of Valana, until today, the residents of Lania built many Churches and chapels.

One of them is dedicated to Agios Georgios. It is built on the west side of the village, a hundred metres from another, historic church, that of Agia Marina, in a green environment.

Huge vines giving sweet fruit reach its precinct giving its worshippers absolute calmness and silence to practice their religious duties.

The chapel is small. It is stone built and has a basilica with a gabled wooden and tiled roof. It is a 1922 construction with all the expenses paied by the residents of Lania. In the yard, there is a big number of water reservoirs. We do not know why they are there. Offerings? Or are they just there to water the many roses that are found along the length of the fence?

The chapel of Agios Georgios in Lania is always open to believers.
