For anyone who likes to walk along nature trails, the free areas of Cyprus are real paradise. Thousands of kilometers have been built mostly by the Department of Forests as well as by the communities themselves or municipal authorities.
A very beautiful path, located in the village of Arsos is the path “exi vrises" (six faucets) which was created to allow nature lovers to see and study the way the people in the olden days supplied themselves with the necessary amount of water for their households.
Six faucets in total are included in the relatively short and easy route of 1200 meters. The second one in line that you will encounter is the fountain "OSS 'ARKATZIN". A source of water, "dressed" with carved stone and water emerging from two spouts.
Due to poor workmanship or the passage of time, the water managed and find a different exit from the one that humans had given it, causing the landscape to be transformed into a real swamp.
A very bad impression is created to the walker as well as all visitors of the faucet with the muddy water, mosquitoes and all sorts of insects that live in the marsh.
The water (if any water comes out of the spouts) is unfit for human consumption even if it is evinced as Holy water.
The OSS 'ARKATZIN faucet, although in terms of architecture is a beautiful construction, now it is a "blemish" for the entire trail. These monuments are directly related to the lives of our ancestors and we should have conserved them so that subsequent generations of Cypriots would have the opportunity and the ability to see and study them.
