Menoiko village is built west of the capital and is at a distance of about 20 kilometres from it. The torrent Serrachis passes it, which creates beautiful scenes at its descent in winter. Back in the old days the village was built on the west banks of Serrachis but today it has been expanded to the east side with a new settlement.
A visitor has a lot to gain from Menoiko. Its streets are picturesque and refer to old good times. Its churches underline the faithfulness of its residents. There are all kinds of services for an easy living wage. In Menoiko there is a church dedicated to Agios Kyprianos and Ioustini. It is a church that receives hundreds of visitors daily, mainly from Russia. For this reason you will see many signs in Russian in the village.
The residents, that are almost 900, mostly deal with agriculture as well as with livestock, therefore if you visit Menoiko, you will see many trucks circulating in the streets and this is good for those who would like to go for agrotourism.
The prices at different coffee shops are affordable and relatively low. Try ‘machalepi’, you will be thrilled.
The community council should look after the cleanliness of some areas such as those shown on our pictures.
In general Menoiko is an area that you would easily chose for permanent residence or for a several day stay.
