The path of Aphrodite begins at “Loutra tis Aphroditis” (the baths of Aphrodite) and ends up in the same place, since it is circular. To reach the end you will have to walk a distance of 7500 metres.
It is a very interesting journey and it will take you through different points that you will have to observe. The “pyrgos tis Rigenas” (the tower of Regina), the most mythic Queen of Cyprus, whom no one ever saw but is very present on the island through towers, castles and locations having her name.
At other points, you will have very beautiful views of the sea that surrounds the peninsula of Akamas and in others you will be able to admire the forest of Paphos. You will be also be able to see hundreds of plants and trees that, even though different the one from the other, have something that puts them under the same category. They have therapeutic and aromatic properties. A great number of them are only found in Cyprus.
At two points of the journey, there are natural sources of potable water. At another point there is a huge and ancient tree that is worth being seen. The path of Aphrodite joins the path of Adonis for a little bit.
The Department of Forests of Cyprus, the creator of this beautiful path, places it under the third category, therefore to the highest grade of difficulty. It is really difficult and you will realise this from the very first metres you will cover.
Steps are carved by nature on a rock and they will guide you to the peak of a mountain, and from there on you should follow a meandering path up until the end of it. No matter how difficult it “seems” to walk along the path, it will “help” you with the beautiful landscapes you will see and each time it will “descend” you to some stream or will “ascend” you to some mountain peak.
During the whole journey of 7500 metres you will never get bored, since you will have a lot to see and study. Walk along it.
