The Pyrga village that belongs to the Larnaca district, was a mixed village until 1963, where Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots lived peacefully. After 1963 the Turkish Cypriot settlers abandoned their fortunes and fled to the neighbouring Turkish Cypriot village called Klavdia.
They left their religious place behind them as well, the Muslim Mosque. Ever since, the construction was not maintained nor conserved, thus it is in a very bad condition today.
It is built very close to the church of Agia Marina and the Agia Aikaterini chapel, which reveals the fact that the relationships between the two communities of the village were peaceful.
The Muslim Mosque without a minaret is part of the Pyrga history and a department should take the responsibility to restore it before it collapses.
