The picnic area of Trooditissa is found a kilometre before the monastery with the same name, 6 kilometres after Platres on the road Platres-Prodromos. It has a capacity of 700 people and it is provided with all kinds of facilities for a pleasant stay with no worries.
It has been created at the stream of the river of Trooditissa, or the double river and its tables are scattered among big river rocks, under high platanus trees, alders and other forest trees.
The river divides the picnic area into two, resulting to it creating a very beautiful environment, like the ones any excursionist would like to spend time with his family at.
There is an appropriate place for children. It is ONLY used with personal surveillance by the guardians of the children.
At a small distance of about 50 metres from the picnic area, the river is transformed into a waterfall. It can be reached through the riverbed, even though it is somewhat dangerous. You can have a view of the waterfall from the point where a once a rock for climbing existed, 100 metres from the picnic area towards the monastery.
Through the picnic area you will see sources gushing and enriching the river. If you follow the course of the river upstream you will find many such sources. The journey is quite difficult since you will “get up” the riverbed with its big stones. There is no path, even though the Department of Forests should “see” its creation positively. It would be a magnificent journey.
For many reasons, the picnic area of Trooditissa is one of the Cypriots' favourite journeys and during the summer months it is very difficult or even impossible to find a free table, except if you get to the area very early in the morning.
