In the centre of the village of Episkopi in Limassol, a very old, small chapel dedicated to Ypapanti tis Theotokou (the Presentation of the Virgin) is found.
In a quiet corner of an intersection of two roads, in a residential area with low construction and literally "drowned" in green, the small church was found, after the great development that took place in Episkopi during the past forty years.
When it was built, a few centuries ago, it was found on the peak of the hill, north of the settlement of Episkopi. It was a chapel. Later when people in the settlement prospered by working at the field that "stretched" to the south and reached to the beach, instead of destroying the valley by building houses in it, they preferred to extend on to the surrounding hills, resulting to the chapel of Virgin Mary being found in the community center.
It is a vaulted basilica, built of stone.
As far as it concerns the chapel, we did not find any other information. If someone knows more about it, contact us.
