During the middle ages, and in the beginning of the 15th century, settlers of the byzantine settlement of Aglantzia, dug into a rock and created a church. They dedicated it to Panagia Theotokos Glykofilousa.
A lot later, in the beginnings of the 20th century, some believer from the community, built a church on the root of the vertical rock. This church is protected and saved still today, and it is part of the area of Aglantzia we call “Skali”.
It is found on the southwest side of the amphitheatre, a few metres away from the old church of Agios Georgios.
A stone built road begins from this church and leads to the Heroes square, and it splits to narrow streets as well, into the old settlement of Aglantzia.
