North of Limassol, after the Fasoula village, we reach a deserted space of the Mathikoloni village.
It is built in the form of an ampitheatre on the south side of the mountain and it is a deserted “monument”. On the peak of the mountain there is a small renovated chapel.
The abandoned village was chosen by the English BBC channel in 1979 to shoot a very famous tv series, The Aphrodite Inheritance.
A friend, Philip Clarke, who is a fan of the series, followed the place where it was shot and photographed the landcape. He sent us the following pictures from Mathikoloni and we thank him a lot for that.
