In Lakatamia, in a refugee settlement, there is a Holy Church dedicated to Agios Mamas. It is one of the 66 churches and chapels in the whole of Cyprus that are dedicated to this Saint.
It is found while crossing the Spyrou Kyprianou street, towards the direction of the roundabout of the Archangel. You can see it emerging from the block of flats of the refugees.
The Church is a construction of need, after the persecution in 1974. This is when thousands of refugees found hospitality and shelter on the borders of Lakatamia.
