The Holy Church of Timiou Stavrou tou Agiasmati, is found five kilometres northwest of the village of Platanistasa, on the geographical periphery of Pitsilia. It is the Katholikon (major church building) of the Monastery carrying the same name, that existed in the area from the 15th century.
The Monastery was abandoned by its monks long before 1750, the date in which we have written witnesses that refer to it.
It is a single aisled basilica and it has a wooden roof with tiles. It is built of stone and on the inside it is frescoed.
It is protected by the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus and it is ranked on the catalogue of the Worldwide of the Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
The Church is always closed for worshippers. If you wish to visit it, you should firstly communicate with the counterman !! of the village.
Even though it is managed by the Department of Antiquities, the entrance is free.
