The earthen fence in Vyzakia, is found on the north side of the village and on the left side of the road that leads to the village of Agia Marina, of you are travelling from Vyzakia. It was constructed in 1994 and it had a volume capacity of 1.690.000 cubic metres of water. Fishing is prohibited in the dam.
The area is not offered of a long-term stay, due to the fact that next to the dam there is a shooting range, and also because the area that is accessible to the visitor is of small area and is “naked” in terms of vegetation. The wider area of the dam is a low pinewood. The visitor may take a tour to the dam for a little time (enough to appreciate the area) and then, they may carry on souther, where there is a camping place belonging to the department of forests.
It is a shame that the water department, that is also administrator of the dam, did not make sure to provide the visitors with facilities. If the department cannot manage the dams, they should pass the responsibility on to the department of forests, where there, they know very well how to take care of places visited by people.
