Beaches in Cyprus - Pouzi Beach (Mazotos Beach), Mazotos, Larnaca

Added on: by

The Pouzi or Bouzi beach, is found on the coastal front of the Mazotos village, and got its name from the Pouzis river that exudes there a few hundreds of metres east.

It is a non controlled beach, that is not equipped with lifeguards.  This, however, does not stop thousands of locals and foreigners to bathe in it, during the day as well as during the nights in the summer.

The Pouzi beach is only a small part of the beaches that belong to Mazotos, and its waters are of the cleanest that exist in Cyprus.  There are no facilities, so each swimmer or beach visitor, should bring everything they need with them.  Of course, this is not exactly bad, because this is also how everything is.. free.  There is water to take showers during the summer months.

In addition, there is a restaurant at a distance of 25 metres from the shore, but before you order, ask for the prices.  It is the only restaurant in the area of about 7 kilometres of shoreline.  The beach is not offered only for swimming.  It is an ideal place for walking.  On the longest part of the journey, the dirt road is exactly the point where the waves break.  On your way you will find many sandy beaches and you will also see a palm forest in which you can walk too.

The Pouzi beach can serve a whole family, young and old.  It is prohibited for dogs to swim.

If you want to spend a few hours away from the noise of the town, Pouzi beach is found in Mazotos, a kilometre east of the church of Petounta.
