When you go to an African country and want to visit one of the hundreds of National Parks you must first be provided with permission to enter it by the competent authorities. If you get into it without permission and are arrested, then, no one knows where you will end up. All this happens in Africa, one of the countries mistakenly called third world and underdeveloped.
In European Cyprus of the 21st century, if you want to visit one of the few national parks that exist, and more precisely, one of the very few that exist and that are embedded in the Natura 2000 program, you have no obligation to ask anyone. Get your vehicle, enter it and do whatever you want.
The above applies to the Akamas National Park. An area where there are unique and rare ecosystems. An area that is the only place that marine turtles nest, which is an endangered species. A region where nature made sure to remain pristine and unadulterated, creating landscapes found nowhere else. In this area, if you please, thousands of hunters are allowed, to wander among forests of shrubs, trees and plants protected by the international community.
It is unacceptable, to find yourself in a beautiful landscape and to see hundreds of agricultural vehicles literally ploughing the dirt roads of the park with great speed thus “lifting” huge dust clouds, ignoring the destruction brought about by the their acts.
The Akamas peninsula which is not only "property" of Cyprus but also of the whole world community, should be protected in order to remain as beautiful as it is now.
In the pictures that follow, the southern bay of the beautiful beach of Lara is represented. The Junipercy bush or as it is better known "juniper" or even if you prefer "aoratos" (Invisible), covering vast areas of the park, thus forms a beautiful and for the moment pristine forests, as well as the Cyprus Pig or Boar, which, according to mythology, killed the lover of Aphrodite, Adonis.
