The island of Cyprus is famous for its clean and organized beaches located in the free from the occupation areas. One of them is the beach of Pissouri. It is located 3 kilometres south of the old centre of the village and at the end of the beautiful valley that stretches from the foot of the hill where it was built in Pissouri up to the coast.
It is an organized beach and is staffed with lifeguards during the summer months. It provides all the services the visitor needs to spend hours and days in safety and with every comfort.
The beach, holder of the blue flag, has a length of approximately two kilometers. It has the shape of a semi circle and is enclosed from west with the tall and vertical slopes of cape bearing the name "Aspros” (White) and from east with treacherous high hills bearing the name "Mavrorotsos" (Black Stone).
It has a width of approximately 25 meters and is covered by coarse gray sand. Most of the beach is mainly planted with tropical plants and trees that give of a similar image of tropical paradises of South East Asia.
A pedestrian walkway that extends parallel to the coast, situated between the tree-lined part of the beach and the organized with umbrellas and beds area, takes you easily to the location you would choose to rest. Throughout the route, there are benches for resting and viewing the sea and the bathers.
Hotels and tourist accommodation are found there and will delight you with their architecture and gardens. All along the coast and throughout the organized beach, there are quaint and tastefully decorated cafeterias.
There are rental services for water sports.
If all of this is not enough to satisfy you and you want a more quiet and secluded corner then proceed east, where black and wild hills are located. Here the beach is not organized and therefore the amount of people is a lot less.
Whichever part of the beach you choose, you will only have a beautiful and pleasant time.
The beach of Pissouri or as it is recorded as "bay of Pissouri," until a few years ago, there was only a remote and deserted beach and the oldest Cypriots will know is as a "nudist beach". Today it is a real gem not only for Pissouri but for the whole of Cyprus.
