One of the two big tributaries of Tremithos, has its sources in the east areas of the Mathiatis village. The other one has its sources in the areas that are included in the village of Sia.
The two tributaries join at the Lympia dam. When they overflow, they create the Tremithos river, that continues its journey among the villages of Lympia and Mosfiloti. While crossing the village of Mosfiloti, a small torrent that gathers the rainwaters of the village, connects with it at the “Diplopotamos” area, while a little later at the “Kakoures” location, an uproar of the sound of the waters that circulate on the unsmooth and tough rocky land is created. You can get to this place by taking the road that takes you to the chapel of Profitis Ilias in Lympia.
The river continues from there, and passes through the village of Psevdas, and in combination with the pinewoods, magnificent views are created at some points.
But it does not stop there. It continues along a helicoidal journey, it “splits” into two at the Agia Anna village and a little before it leaves it behind, it forms waterfalls. The local head, seeing the beauty the river offers along with its waterfalls, has created steps out of tree trunks, so that the visitor may have the opportunity to descent to the riverbed and enjoy the place. A small bridge at the same point, takes you back in time.
From there on, Tremithos continues its helicoidal journey towards the dam of Kiti. A dam that offered a lot to the economy of the progressive community of Kiti, irrigating all the cultivable land that surrounds the villages of Kiti and Meneou.
After that, it crosses Kiti the west of the Church of Angeloktisti and then ends up in the shores of the Softades area.
During the whole journey, the river “gives” rare views and magnificent landscapes, as long as someone allocates some time to discover them.
